How do I know if my child needs feeding therapy?

If your child demonstrates 1 or more of the following symptoms, we recommend getting a feeding evaluation:

  • Refuses to eat certain textures

  • Has difficulty transitioning from one texture to another (bottle to puree, puree to mashed table food, etc.)

  • Has difficulty chewing food or swallows food whole

  • Avoids or gags on certain food textures, tastes, temperatures, smells

  • Frequently coughs, gags, and/or vomits before, during, or after eating

  • Takes longer than 30 minutes to complete a meal

  • Has difficulty coordinating suck, swallow, breathe while bottle or breast feeding

  • Has a limited diet of accepted foods

  • Demonstrates negative mealtime behaviors (refuses to sit for mealtime, cries/tantrums, arches, refuses to look at food, etc.)

How does teletherapy work?

Sessions take place via a secure, HIPAA compliant platform that is interactive. Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive an email welcoming you to the teletherapy platform.  You will then be requested to create your own personal password that you will use each time you log into a therapy session.

What are the benefits of teletherapy?

Teletherapy allows you to receive therapy from the comfort of your home.  It alleviates the stress of sitting in traffic or running behind.  Therapy is provided in your child's natural environment which allows you to implement strategies into daily routines immediately.  There are less cancellations which means increased consistency of therapy and better progress.

Is teletherapy appropriate for everyone?

While the research is showing that progress using teletherapy is consistent with that of in-person therapy, we recognize that it may not be appropriate for everyone.  Call for a free consultation to determine if teletherapy is a good fit for you and your child.
